Resources

When I decided to get divorced, I knew I needed information, but I was overwhelmed and could not bear the thought of mining the internet to educate myself.   I now know that was the time I needed knowledge most, because I had to make so many decisions quickly.  I wish I had known someone who could curate resources for me.

Over the past few years I have consumed extensive information about divorce.  Below is a handful of sources that I find to be noteworthy.  If you want help figuring out where to start, or if you have a resource to recommend, email me.

Podcasts

  • The Divorce Field Guide -- A no-frills infomation podcast by Ani Mason, esq. who keeps it simple and straightforward with no guests. If I had listened to this podcast early on, Episode 4 about Mediation and Episode 5 about Collaborative divorce would have saved me a mistake in choosing my divorce process. I recommend listening on 2x.

  • Divorce and Beyond -- This podcast by Susan Guthrie, esq. has hundreds of episodes, some of which are bound to be relevant to any situation.  I like her interview style, and find the episodes informative and on-topic.  Day 1 with a Divorce Coach was interesting and I would have found it helpful at the beginning of my process.

Websites

  • California Divorce Process -- This site provides straightforward help from the court system in CA.

  • Hello Divorce -- This website tries to reimagine the process of divorce and also to guide you through step-by-step while saving you money.  It's a one-stop-shop for doing your own divorce, or for getting help from specific types of professionals at an hourly rate.  It's not for everyone, but if you and your spouse feel able to engage productively in the divorce process without a 3rd party, you might like it.
